'Bird Cow Fish', Daim chocolates and the Backstreet Boys...

Tonight I went to 'Bird Cow Fish' in Surry Hills for dinner to celebrate the end of Ant's very long and overdrawn academic life.

I was quite excited to go since it's got a hat and the potato gnocchi the chef made on Master Chef looked really yummy! xD

    Verdict:
Ambience: casual and chatty; very dim (good if you have an ugly date??)
Service: Pretty good/friendly without being over bearing
Food: Entrees were pretty good, mains were average at best. Nothing spectacular or particularly memorable
    Value: Big prices; tiny servings

I might just be really unlucky but i dont think it's worth it. Even without taking the ridiculously prices into consideration, the food is still not particularly good. So bleh.

Anyway, on a brighter note, i am really getting into BSB's new album! It's the only thing I listen to nowadays! xD I REALLY hope they will come to Australia because the tracks on this album are a lot more pop/dance and i imagine will make a rocking concert! So yes, yes... they better come!! The set list posted on Wiki sounds awesome as well!

Oh, oh! My mum bought me a bag of Daim chocolates from IKEA on Thursday and I've almost finished the whole bag! *ashamed* but honestly this stuff is the BOMB. No other chocolate can compare. What a shame it's not widely stocked in mainstream supermarkets ><! KTSUN if you're reading this, can you PLEASE order some of this stuff for Coles and hopefully it will eventually come to my local Coles ahahah!

  • Cleaning out my closet!

For months now I have been trying to find my boring, black work skirt and I was almost certain that it was hiding somewhere in the deep, dark abyss known as my closet. Today I was determined to HUNT DOWN THE SKIRT because it's getting warm and I want skirt!!!! Now over the last few years, i have accumulated a lot of useless stuff that i will never, ever use/wear again but have kept "just in case" or for sentimental value. This included (but not limited to):

    - clothes from high school/uni days
    - fobby, morning glory-esque decoration/presents
    - pencil cases, pens, colour pencils etc
    - bags, bags and more bags
    - letters, cards, fobby diaries/letter sets (lol what a waste of $)
    - the cup i held my egg baby in for year 9 teen pregnancy challenge complete with the padding inside (thank goodness the egg is no longer in there, imagine what an 8 year old egg would smell like :S)
    - lots of yarn + half completed knitting
    - old MP3 CDs... i had so much Canto/Mando-pop songs AHAHAH, how times have changed!
    - and more...

All this junk has really clogged up my already small closet so I finally decided to bite the bullet and screw sentimentality and ruthlessly throw out everything I have not looked at/worn for the last 6 months...

After what seemed like hours of sorting, I am proud to report that I have:
    - Chucked out 2 boxes of stuff
    - Donated 4 bags of clothing/bags

I really wish I took photos of the stuff in the boxes/bags but I forgotz >< But here are some before and after shots:

It's SO much neater now and i also have lots more space for NEW STUFF! Yayyyy... shopping!! xD

But most importantly, I found my skirt and also this other dress I thought I lost!!

Welcome back, skirt and dress! You have been sorely missed...

I need to find time to do the same to my drawers... pretty sure there are plenty of stuff to get rid of there as well...

Having said that though, i still kept some sentimental things that I just cannot let go of just yet, namely my 2 formal dresses (which i can no longer fit into ahah) and my painted junior high uniform :P

So tell me dear friends, are there any junk in your closet that you cannot bear to part with just yet??

  • yay for random gatherings

Randomly met up with Bianca, Vera and KT together for some good ol' aussie bbq goodness @ Australian Heritage Hotel.

Bianca parked very far away and we had to trek through the rain to find this place hehe. On the way we saw many wedding parties getting rained on. How unfortunate... I felt almost sorry for them... especially the brides/bride's maids who had to hike their dresses up and freeze their little made-up butts off in the rain. Why do guys get to be so covered up but the girls have to bare so much flesh?? But I digress...

Had crocodile, emu and kangaroo skewers. Poor native fauna!

Speaking of fauna, KtSun, let you teach you a lesson in biology:
Kangaroo = MEGAFAUNA. This has been confirmed by Wikipedia, the ultimate source of knowledge and wisdom (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_megafauna#Living_Australian_megafauna)

Red kangaroos are the largest surving marsupials and males can grow up to 85kg which is perfectly rideable.

SO THERE! Rita: 1; KtSun: 0!!!! Please do not insult me by doubting the vast extent of my knowledge in this area, because I DID get 20/20 as a part of my work with the Happy, Happy, Happy crew in our extensive research project into the wonders of Australian Flora & Fauna. But then again i forgive you because you weren't around when we made that so I guess I couldn't have expected you to know just how knowledgable I am... *nod*

Can't wait until random meet up #2 tomorrow night! Remember girls, it's 6.37pm @ "Motely" pub~ See y'all there haha...

  • What really grinds (& oils) my gears!

Hurrah for the sudden inundation of bored quizzie spammage these days! very interesting read lol!Although I am too lazy to do them myself, I was inspired to blog by one of the questions in the quiz: "Pet Peeves?"

I noticed that I whinge a lot! So I thought I'd balance it out with stuff that I adore <3 (It'd be interesting to come back a few years down the track to see how much I have changed...)

Things/people that really grinds my gears:

    1. inconsiderate train travellers: Now I am sure there are many, many family/genus/species/sub-species of these lovely people who grace our wonderful CityRail network, but just let me outline the few that I have personally encountered over the last few weeks:

    a. The public DJ: Seriously, are you deaf? If not, then congratz because you are almost there! If I can hear your nntz-nntz-nntz music beating from my seat next to/in front/behind/across the aisle/on the other side of the carriage from you - chances are it's too loud. Headphones are meant to be for YOU only. THINK OF YOUR POOR EARS! I find the worst offenders are them iPod users. The speakers must be on the outside or something.

    b. The pretender: No matter how hard you are concentrating, surely you can hear me going "EXCUSE ME", or see me tapping my feet impatiently out of your
peripheral vision. Unless of course you are blind AND deaf. In which case, how do you manage to read? Or pick up a phone call? Are you magical?!

    c. The social butterfly: My response to your greeting is not an invitation to start a conversation. I'm sure you mean well but it's before 11am, I don't want to talk to you. I was sleeping before, and I want to return to that happy place. Now rack off.

    d. The white rabbit(s): What's the hurry? Please let passengers ALIGHT (i.e. get off) before you try to force your way in. The train will not shut its doors and rush off the moment the last passenger got off. Shoving and pushing will not make the train move earlier.

    e. The drunkards: Please, please I beg you - clear it all out before you step onto a train T__T it stinks. It's an enclosed space... think of the poor people who have to clean it. I very much doubt they can just hose it away ><

    2. Lawbreakers (with stupid excuses): re: Bianca's blog. If you broke the law, accept the punishment and apologise for it. Nothing more annoying than a criminal trying to justify their crime with petty excuses and no remorse. No love from Rita.

    3. Lovey dovey fb status updates from couples (esp. married ones): e.g. "XXXXXX is cooking ribs for hubby tonight! <3 <3 xoxo date night A+++++++++". I have no rational reason to be annoyed at this, I just am. It's e-PDA. It offends me. Keep it to yourself thx.

    4. Irresponsible pet owners: please do not leave your dog's poopie lying on the street. It's a) unhygienic b) gross, and most importantly c) gives us law abiding poo-picker-upper-ers a bad rep with the general community

    5. Pushy salesman/charity people: No means no, otherwise it amounts to rape. Why can't these roaming sales/charity (wo)men see the severity of the word NO? I don't want to shake your hand, DON'T guilt trip me into feeling like an evil person just because I am not interested. Stop smiling at me and talking to me in an overly freakishly friendly manner *screams and run away*

Things that... OILS MY GEARS (and make them run smooooooothly):

    1. Clean, crisp bed sheets: i absolutely ADORE the feeling of sliding into bed afer a long day. This awesomeness is multiplied many times when the sheets are nice and smoooooth and clean smelling :D

    2. Cheerful & informative train drivers: i love the ones who  explain what's happening in detail in a clear and cheerful voice! makes late running trains more bearable hehe~ we should get to vote for train driver/platform managers of the month to encourage more people like them!

    3. Mind stimulating and challenging Christian discussions - went to a lecture @ New College yesterday about Bioethics & Redemption. Very interesting discussion on stem cells, abortion, euthanasia and suffering etc. It was good to be reminded that there is a purpose to creation and life is not a random occurence... otherwise what is the point of living?

    4. Sushi train: instant gratification at its best. Sushi train is the answer to all worldly troubles.

    5. LUSH: I have really taken a liking to LUSH stuff :) they just smell so yummy and relaxing and now I actually want to have a proper skin care routine which is doing my skin some good (i think?!)

    6. Hanging out with good friends: Though this is becoming quite the rarity! Come on peepz, let's make an effort to meet up! ;) Sunday 4/10 - picnic/dinner/drinks?
